Description
Traveling by boat in the Gulf of Alaska from Seward, Alaska into the Kenai Fjords National Park we came upon a neon glow in the water. This is what happens when thousands and thousands of jellyfish congregate. It turns the beautiful turquoise waters of the Gulf of Alaska into a bright neon billboard.
A group of jellyfish is sometimes called a bloom or a swarm and commonly called a smack outside of the scientific community. This particular type of jellyfish is the non-stinging kind.
