One of the best views in Death Valley and you captured it perfectly!

Artist's Description

Dante's View at 5,476 feet above sea level along the crest of the Black Mountains is the quintessential view of Death Valley National Park in California. Standing at this point you are rewarded with a dramatic panoramic view of the the massive Badwater salt basin. Looking west across the salt pan is the Panamint Range rising up to Telescope Peak. In my eyes, this is the perfect location to acquaint yourself with Death Valley. So much of what is Death Valley can be seen from this spot. Straight down from this spot is Badwater Basin at 282 feet below sea level. If you look closely you can see the pedestrian path etching it's way into the salt flat. On very clear days, the highest and lowest points in the contiguous 48 states of the United States: Mount Whitney (14,505 ft) and Badwater Basin (−282 ft) can be seen.

About George Buxbaum

George Buxbaum

My heart and passion is landscape, nature, travel, and urban photography but I am most at peace out in the field with a camera enjoying mother nature and capturing the beauty of the world around me. Come join my adventure as I share my view of the world one image at a time. Please take a few minutes to browse my portfolio and be sure to read the description for the images that grab your attention. In many of my descriptions, I attempt to bring you into the scene from my eyes as I contemplated what to include in the image. Maybe this will help you to connect with my vision of the scene and why I was moved to capture that particular moment in time. I shoot mainly for color images and most of my portfolio is comprised of color images...
