Juniper Canyon as seen from the the Lost Mine Trail in the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park in extreme South Texas. The trail starts out near Chisos Basin for a round trip hike of 4.6 miles. The view from the top of the trail is breathtaking and you feel like you are on top of the world. Did not quite make it to Lost Mines Peak as the scramble to the top is fairly extreme with only about 10% of the visitors attempting to summit the peak.
Legend has it, that if a person stands in the chapel door of San Vincente's mission on Easter morning, he can watch the sun's first rays strike Lost Mine Peak at the exact mine entrance.
