Description
The golden hour was certainly true for sunrise this morning over Manly Beacon at Zabriske Point in Death Valley National Park, California. Borates, which made up a large portion of Death Valley's historical past were concentrated in the lake beds from hot spring waters and alteration of rhyolite in the nearby volcanic field. Weathering and alteration by thermal waters are also responsible for the variety of colors represented. The dark-colored material capping the badland ridges is lava from eruptions that occurred three to five million years ago.

Beautiful sunrise here. I like how just the point gets lit up in this shot. Nicely done George. Congratulations on being featured in The Life in Death Valley. And welcom to the group.

Zabriskie Point at sunrise is out of this world. I watch the sun as slowly rose that morning. You could see the shadow line moving. Thanks for hosting this new group. I know you will get a lot of awesome images.
