Artist's Description
Forest Court. As I hiked into this clearing in Stout Grove in Redwood National and State Park near Crescent City, California, I felt like I had stumbled into a sacred meeting place. Maybe Forest Fairies and Tree People meet here to hold court against someone or something that has committed a crime against Mother Earth. The judges table is the fallen tree covered by ferns. Maybe this is where the mythical creatures of the forest come together to celebrate life on earth. One couldn't help but feel like there was a special purpose for this clearing. Whatever the purpose, this area of the old growth coastal redwoods had an immediate impact on me and viewing this image takes me back to the moment when I first walked into this clearing.
