Description
Desert Reality. Ever wonder why some desert plants barely survive, while other plants thrive, and yet other plants die in the same environment? In this intimate landscape from Saquaro National Park we see examples of cacti thriving in the harsh desert while at the same time other other neighboring plants are dead or dying.
The aptly named Cactus Forest Drive winds through the giant saguaro of Saguaro National Park in Tuscon, Arizona. This section of the National Park is the Rincon Mountain district east of Tucson, Az. Saguaro cacti as far as the eye can see.
Saguaro National Park is home to the nations largest cacti. The giant saguaro is the universal symbol of the American west. These majestic plants, found only in a small portion of the United States, are protected by Saguaro National Park, to the east and west of the modern city of Tucson.
