I stood and looked. Everything was peaceful, and it rested me. - Minerva Hamilton Hoyt. Minerva was an early American activist who worked to preserve California desert areas, and promoted the establishment of Joshua Tree National Park.
The Cholla Cactus Garden at Joshua Tree National Park in California, painted with the gorgeous colors of sunrise, was an extra special delight on this cold desert morning. The quote above from Minerva Hamilton Hoyt very accurately described my feelings as I watched the rising sun ignite the cholla cactus before my eyes.
