Artist's Description
Zabriskie Point, Death Valley, Ca. Millions of years prior to the actual sinking and widening of Death Valley and the existence of Lake Manly, another lake covered a large portion of Death Valley including the area around Zabriskie Point. This ancient lake began forming approximately nine million years ago. During several million years of the lake's existence, sediments were collecting at the bottom in the form of saline muds, gravels from nearby mountains, and ashfalls from the then-active Black Mountain volcanic field. These sediments combined to form what is now known as the Furnace Creek Formation. The climate along Furnace Creek Lake was dry, but not nearly as dry as in the present. Camels, mastodons, horses, carnivores, and birds left tracks in the lakeshore muds, along with fossilized grass and reeds. About George Buxbaum
My heart and passion is landscape, nature, travel, and urban photography but I am most at peace out in the field with a camera enjoying mother nature and capturing the beauty of the world around me. Come join my adventure as I share my view of the world one image at a time. Please take a few minutes to browse my portfolio and be sure to read the description for the images that grab your attention. In many of my descriptions, I attempt to bring you into the scene from my eyes as I contemplated what to include in the image. Maybe this will help you to connect with my vision of the scene and why I was moved to capture that particular moment in time. I shoot mainly for color images and most of my portfolio is comprised of color images...
